Vidya Iyer: Mashup Queen in Mauritius for a unique performance

The Mashup Queen is in Mauritius for a unique concert on Sunday 1st May at the J&J auditorium as from 7:30 pm. Vidya Iyer, popularity known as Vidya Vox on social networks, has been in Mauritius since Monday. Organised by Events Plus and Umagic, the concert promises to mesmerise the public. Aged 25, Vidya, who will be on stage with her sister Vandana and musicians, promises an amazing two hours non-stop live performance. “I can not wait to be on stage to share my love of music,” she says. The singer, who is very versatile and sings in various languages including Hindi, Tamil and English, will sing American chart busters and Bollywood and Tamil super hits. “The repertoire is composed mainly of mashups and covers, already available on YouTube. There obviously will be songs which I will exclusively present to the Mauritian public, Carnatic music as well as many other surprises,” promises the young singer who debuted just a year ago. “I grew up listening to American pop songs on the radio, but singing bhajans (religious songs) at home. By merging the songs of these two genres, I forged my identity,” she utters. The Indo-American singer confides that she is very inspired by the performance of her favorite artists namely Beyoncé, A. R. Rahman and Ed Sheeran. The tickets are on sale at Mikado at Bagatelle Mall, Jumbo Phoenix, Trianon, Curepipe and Port Louis. The tickets are also available at Radio Plus. The prices are as follows: Rs 1,950 (VIP), Rs 1,600 (Platinum), Rs 1,350 (Gold), Rs 1,150 (Silver) and Rs 900 (Bronze).
