Ministry of Youth and Sports: Special Winter Holidays Programme 2016

The second term school holidays are here, boys and girls. Leave aside the cold weather and get ready for some hot programme and activities. We’ve prepared a list of how you can enjoy your holidays. Carrom Festival The Ministry of Youth and Sports is organising a big ‘Carrom Festival’ under the Special Holidays 2016 program. The grand event will take place on Saturday July 16 as from 9.00 a.m at the Caudan Waterfront (beside the Foodcourt). The youth will be divided into categories: 14-17 years (Boys and Girls) and 18 - 35 years (Boys and Girls). Prizes will be awarded to the winners of various categories. Registration will be done on site at the Caudan Waterfront on the day of the festival. There will be musical shows. All the young persons are invited to the festival. For more information, call Mr C. You can also enjoy the Feeding Time and Interactive Chat which takes place everyday at 11am and 3pm. The Mauritius Aquarium is open during week days and Saturdays as from 9.30 am to 5pm and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm. Entrance fee for adults is at Rs 300 and children (2 to 12) at Rs 150. For a group of 10 to 14 persons, the fees are of Rs 250 per adults and Rs 125 per child. With a group of 15 to 30 people, the adult fee is at Rs 195 and children fee at Rs 95. For the grand event, various local artists will perform. Artists such as Laurent Pierre Lecordier from The Vocie 2016 will also perform. Songs of ‘Chante ton coeur’, last year’s CD, will be sang by the artists. The concerts will take place at the Kafe-t@komiko at Route Royale, Belle-Rose, on different dates namely: Thursday July 28 at 20:00, Friday July 29 at 20:00, Saturday July 30 at 20:00 and Sunday July 31 at 13:30. Tickets are at fixed price of Rs350.         Film Projection at the French Institute Mauritius On Wednesday July 20, in line with the school holidays, the French Institute Mauritius at Rose Hill (L’Institut Français de Maurice) is organising a film projection of the animated film for kids ‘Le Parfum de la Carotte’. The 44 minutes film, directed by Remi Durin and Arnaud Demunynck, will be played at 11am at the gallery of the institute. Entrance is free. Become a Zookeeper with Casela

Animal Lovers, this activity is yours. Give your child the opportunity to become a zookeeper for a day at Casela. He/she will be accompanied by a staff member of the zoology department. Time : 8h30am to 1h00pm during Saturdays and 3 times a week during holidays Age : 8 to 14 years old Price : Rs 1,200 for residents/ Rs 2,000 for non-residents. This include entrance to the parc, a shirt, noon lunch and photos.
