New laws to control the use of drones

The government is coming up with a law to regulate the use of drones. Owners possessing a device exceeding 7 kilos will have to obtain a permit from the Department of Civil Aviation, especially those engaged in commercial activities such as taking pictures and videos. The objective of this law is not to control the use of drones but rather to ensure that citizen’s privacy is respected. The new law will also prohibit flights over sensitive areas such as the airport, the Parliament building and the police headquarters. With this law, anti-drug officers may use drones in future operations.
