With a total maritime zone of 2.6 million kilometer square, the Mauritian seafood sector should be delivering more. While the Government is willing to invest billions in this emerging sector, operators are apprehensive about a downturn. A staggering amount to the tune of approximately Rs 18 billion has already been invested and there are plans to upgrade the port infrastructure to accommodate more ships. What more could be done to wheel this sector towards prosperity?
