Mauritius, with the winner Ilona Veerasawmy and other students. The event took place on Monday September 19. The institution also won a grant of Rs 50,000 for an academic empowerment project, following a national drawing competition on road safety organized by Cite Zen, the national awareness campaign on road safety launched by Vivo Energy last year.
It is the nice drawing of Ilona Veerasawmy, which enabled the Loreto Convent Curepipe - Junior School to benefit from an upgrade of its computer room. Ilona was the lucky winner of the competition thanks to the particular theme chosen and message delivered in her drawing. In fact the student perfectly represented an essential safety action for drivers and passengers: wearing of seat belts.

The delivery of computer equipment ceremony saw the presence of Kiran Juwaheer, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Mauritius. “The Cite Zen campaign perfectly reflects our role as a company conscious of road safety. Cite Zen affirmed its educational vocation over the years and intends to pursue its path to empower the adults of tomorrow,” said Kiran Juwaheer. He added that “academic education is based more and more on technological tools. These facilities will therefore be of great benefit for students.”
As education and road safety are two priorities in the community investment policy of Vivo Energy, the company invited primary schools in Mauritius and Rodrigues in July 2015 to observe a Road Safety Day, as part of the Cite Zen campaign. Students of 4th and 5th Standard had to draw an impromptu drawing translating their vision of road traffic, the risks it represents and the ways road users can protect themselves. Each institution then had to designate a winner to participate in the national competition. Through this initiative, Vivo Energy Mauritius invites young people not only to be more responsible on the road, but also to show the way to their elders. The company also develops and provides a wide range of educational programs across the island.
