Around 1,000 students aged between 11 and 20 will be trained. The courses will be delivered in parallel in each of the four educational zones of Mauritius, i.e. 250 students will be trained per educational zone.

Since December 2016, the Council has initiated a program focussed on the use of Robotics and Programming as one of the key tools for attracting, initiating, encouraging the younger generation to learn Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The ultimate objective is to build capacity in technology driven innovation in Mauritius.

In light of the above, the MRC is organising three (3) parallel hands on training, as detailed below:

  • IOT driven Home and Industrial Automation using Raspberry Pi – (400 students aged 15 -20 to be trained)
  • Introduction to Humanoid/ Walking Robot (400 students aged 11 to 15 to be trained)
  • Introduction to Haptic Controlled Robot (200 students aged 11 to 15 to be trained)
  • During the workshop, each student will be given a kit which they will use to build and program a robot which they can take home and experiment further with online assistance from the resource persons.
