IBL on The Move 2017: Sports challenge to raise funds

Sports, solidarity and conviviality were at the rende-zvous at Azuri, Roches Noires, on Saturday 4 March as part of the 5th edition of IBL on the Move. Supervised by one hundred volunteers, participants of all ages took part in activities such as mountain biking, running and swimming races – either in team, solo or triathlon relays. This event aimed at supporting the Breast Cancer Care Association through funds raised by the registration fees and the Donation Challenge. A sum of Rs 762,940 was collected, and will thus help the Association in supporting breast cancer patients.

For the winning team, the ‘Outsiders’, composed of Eric Ciceron, Xavier Toulet and Darryl Wong, this is the reward for the effort. “We’re glad we participated. Besides, we plan to come back next year. We must continue to train ourselves,” confided Xavier Toulet and Darryl Wong. The same feeling was shared by Mathias Ritter, who won the first place in triathlon. “I thank IBL for this initiative. Last year was my first participation and I wanted to do the triathlon in solo this year. There was some competition among friends and I am delighted to have won. The idea of the challenge to cross the finish line in less than 1:40 and to contribute to the fund of an NGO is a great initiative,” he said.

IBL Group CEO - Operations, Yann Duchesne, said the fifth edition of IBL on the Move demonstrated the solidarity and commitment of the participants who made the event a success. “Over the years, IBL on the Move has found its place in the sporting world and it is with great pride that we reached 800 participants this year. This event with a dual objective, sports and charity, is now highly anticipated among amateurs and professionals. This year, thanks to the funds raised, we will be able to support the NGO Breast Cancer Care, which does remarkable work in supporting women who are fighting against breast cancer. I would like to acknowledge the commitment of the participants and our partners, the Joseph Lagesse Foundation, the members of the organisation and the volunteers for their unfailing support.”

Shamima Patel, President of Breast Cancer Care, thanked the participants and organisers of IBL on the Move for their support of her Association. “It is very important for us to see the mobilisation around the cause supported by the Breast Cancer Care. I am particularly grateful to IBL on the Move, the Joseph Lagesse Foundation and all those who contributed to making this event a success. The funds raised will allow the NGO to continue its struggle with women who suffer from cancer,” she stated. IBL on the Move will be back next year with more interesting challenges.
