By insulting the Bar Council and its members, including the Attorney General, you are insulting your profession and the Bar to which you belong… Need I remind you that, several light years ago, when you were the leader of the Bar and a vacancy had occurred in the secretariat you had called upon me to be the secretary of the Bar Council, under your chairmanship ? Was I then so unworthy ? Your present summary judgment is as short sighted as your fading memory : « Il faut écrire ses memoires tant que l’on en a ! » vous aurait sans doute rappelé Tristan Bernard. Time will tell ! As the present leader of the Bar, for a second term in office, thrice elected, the last time with 80 % support, yet one whom you regard as an unworthy successor, let me bluntly say to you Gayan : « I am not one who leads from the rear ». Let me also say to you, in the local vernacular: “Moi mo la queue na pas tourne comment tire bouchon ! » Need I remind you of your numerous interviews in the press when you were the then chairman of the Bar, whilst you were in the opposition, and raved political at each turn and juncture, desperately seeking to advance your flailing political career ? Now that you are unexplainably and unexpectedly in power would you seek to prevent me from expressing myself ? Would you wish me to wear your tongue tie and your blinkers ? We all know about your numerous coustiques: from the MMM to the MSM, as an independent candidate in constituency No. 8 who miserably scored some 200 or so odd votes, who now stoops even lower to insult and outrage us. Where is your supposed commitment to the rule of law and basic decency ? From your high office and your three quarter majority would you now presume to quarter us, your friends at the Bar, and deprive us of our inalienable right to be discontented with the government of the day, and probably with the opposition also ? Your ugly fascist remarks at the very self same Vacoas venue as Nandanee Soornack is the beginning of your downfall and will go down in history into the very same way as Madame : ou cone qui moi ?
